The 2022 UK Britannia 1oz Gold Coin features the internationally recognised image of Britannia, designed by Philip Nathan. The reverse presents Britannia standing firm against a powerful wave backdrop, symbolising strength and resilience.
From 2021 onwards, The Royal Mint enhanced the Britannia design with advanced security features. These include a latent image that shifts between a trident and padlock, surface animation providing a wave-like motion effect, tincture lines within the Union Flag shield, and micro-text detail surrounding the design, making the coin significantly more difficult to replicate.
The obverse of the coin bears the fifth portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clark, together with the coin’s monetary denomination of 100 pounds.
