The Queen’s Beasts series is inspired by the ten heraldic statues that stood guard at the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953, each representing a strand of royal ancestry.
The Greyhound of Richmond is a heraldic supporter closely associated with the House of Tudor, symbolising loyalty, courage, and noble lineage. It was used by Henry VII and represents the strength of the Tudor claim to the throne.
The reverse design by Jody Clark depicts the Greyhound of Richmond holding a shield bearing Tudor heraldry. The obverse features the fifth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
